OTHER WRITING

  • “The Interruption”, Fictional Cafe, 2021
“Each time is the same as before, but each time feels new. He and Grace hold hands in the hallway and stare at Destiny through the streakless glass…”

  • “On Top of Everything”, Bewildering Stories, 2019
“With a pile of dirty clothes on her right and a half-empty box of diapers on her left, Hanna sat in the middle of the sofa with her eyes closed and felt the tears escape…”

  • “The Photograph”, Anti-Heroin Chic, 2019
“Not all pictures are worth a thousand words. In retrospect we should’ve known the young lady in the photo wasn’t his child or grandchild. Jencks was in his eighties and though she looked like she was in her late teens or early twenties in the photo, the photograph itself looked to be as old as Jencks was. And anyway that was the case with all of the residents there. All of them were in their eighties or at some late age where their families wanted them to be cared for but didn’t want to do it themselves.”

  • “Dropped”, Anti-Heroin Chic, 2018
“Years ago I went over to my parents house and my nephew was there playing with my father. He was three years old at the time (my nephew, not my dad). My mother was in the kitchen leaning with her folded arms over the kitchen counter looking into the living room watching them and smiling.”
